Besides boat tours to the caves, snorkelling, kayaking and fishing, Ferragudo’s surroundings offer you and your family the chance to explore many other activities.
The Adventure Golf Alvor, located less than 20 minutes´ drive away, is a themed mini-golf course where kids and grown-ups explore the dinosaur ages. Here, many different dinosaur species make an appearance on the course.
After a long afternoon of avoiding all sorts of obstacles, you can enjoy a drink and a small snack on the coffee shop’s terrace, while watching other players trying their luck. Once you have recovered, there is also the chance to try out the bowling mini lanes with your kids.
Also, in Alvor, Golf Land presents the “Magic Family Fun Mini Golf”, where families get to try the 18-hole course. This mini-golf course was designed for advanced players, accommodates beginners and children.
At Golf Land, you can also test your skills on the indoor golf simulator and play on one of the 80 courses available with a group of up to four people. For anyone who wishes to improve their game, there is an option of booking a lesson with a certified instructor.
If you get hungry, Golf Land’s restaurant presents an international cuisine menu, prepared with local produce, where visitors can find menus for children, vegetarians and group reservations.
Paintout Paintball, in Lagos, is the closest to your Ferragudo rental. Within 20 minutes´ driving distance, near a place called Chinicato, an old factory has been converted into a battlefield. Paintout is divided into four different fields, where children, amateur and professional players get to test their skills, either during the day or at nighttime.
The paintball packages include all equipment and balls, and, for an extra amount, you can order the 50-centimetre homemade pizza.
In Albufeira, Crazy Paintball Adventure offers several game options: defeating the opponent, capturing the flag, or duelling “Matrix” style. Either way, alongside your family, you will play on an open field with many trees, bushes, and pallets for cover.
The fastest way to get there is to take the road A22. However, EN125 is also an easy option, as you only need to drive towards Ferreiras and take the “Rua das Assumadas”.
If at the end of the battle you feel hungry, there will be pizza waiting for you! Considering how close you are to Algarve Shopping Center, as an alternative, you can enjoy one of the restaurants available there.
Either in Lagos or Albufeira, the Parque Adventura provides obstacles, slides and rope climbing courses for the whole family.
Each obstacle course is divided into three levels, of which you will choose one suitable for your height and physical abilities. After a short briefing, conducted by one of the certified instructors, you will get information on best practices and safety instructions.
Although there isn’t a standard dress code, it is recommended you wear training clothes, such as a tracksuit and running or hiking shoes. Since some courses take up to one hour to complete and are physically demanding, taking a water bottle and some snacks might come in handy.
In Lagos city centre, 25 minutes´ drive from your ferragudo vacation rentals, the Centro Ciência Viva offers you the opportunity to explore science, from astronomy to archaeology.
When you purchase the “Family Ticket and Workshop”, you will have access to the permanent and temporary exhibitions, as well as making slime, programming robots, creating your own 3D drawings, observing sand from all over the world through a microscope and even creating your own bath salt.
The astronomers working here will take you and your family to contemplate the night sky while naming the stars and constellations. Perhaps you might find a new star and name it after yourself!
The “Scientific Tourism” activities can show you the Algarve’s natural heritage, such as dinosaur footprints in Vila do Bispo and the many species and microorganisms living in the tide pools during a visit to the shoreline at low tide.
The activities performed outside of the Centro Ciência Viva require pre-reservation. For these, it is also recommended to wear weather-appropriate clothes and comfortable shoes.
Since the Centro Ciência Viva is located close to restaurants and coffee shops, getting a full meal or a light snack will be quite easy.
